This season, I want to offer both holiday greetings and share insights on embracing change, synchronicity, and how connecting more deeply with ourselves and others can transform our experience.
We've been absorbed in moving to a new home, all while observing the shifts that come with change. While I believe change benefits us, I also know it can present serious challenges. It’s hard to let go of what was and open to what is ahead.
It's inevitable that routines get disrupted. The ego-self goes crazy, unable to control the unforseen twists and turns. As a result, we’re forced to loosen our grip on what we think we need and how things should, or must, unfold.
Mindfully observing our frustrations and reactions, taking a breath, grounding ourselves in the moment, taking a walk in nature, are tools which open us to new possibilities and bring us into the flow. We find ourselves carried through positive transformation and into the next chapter—with new opportunities and surprising miracles around the bend.
Letting go also allows the Universe to intervene with surprising synchronicities and cosmic winks, and invites higher, guiding forces to join in. In the flow, we also find ourselves ‘dancing with the Universe,’ receiving subtle and unmistakable signals, reminding us that we’re not alone. It’s as though we’re in a chorus line alongside other awakened souls willing to support and collaborate in AWEsome ways.
We’d been in a rental for nearly 2 years following a major move, doing our best to find a more permanent place to land.We checked Zillow often, attended open houses and followed possible leads, but found nothing suitable.
Finally, I rerouted my energy and focused on self-care and fun activities, and refreshed my trust in a much larger, unforeseen plan manifesting for my highest good. This shift opened the door to unexpected events.
One night, I was awakened at 3 am, Spirit nudging me to check Zillow NOW!
I found an amazing place that had just come on the market, one that was likely to be grabbed up immediately. I made arrangements to see the place a that morning.
Just as we were going out the door to check it out, our landlord called to say he'd decided to put our rental on the market, giving us 30 days' notice!
Everything kicked in—one nudge after another, synchronizing and clearing the path toward our new home. My Edith-ego was a little cranky that it didn’t have the view she wanted, but it was such a healing and lovely space.
This isn’t always how things unfold. Sometimes, we might find it necessary to move in with our children—or visa versa, our children moving in us. Losses might force force us to quickly downsize and find a more suitable situation, or more personalized care. Regardless of the impending changes, we can call up our courage, strength, and faith in the bigger plan unfolding.
However…
“You never know what’s for what!”
It’s been my favorite saying for years. A student in my metaphysics class years (and years) ago, actually needlepointed these words on a pillow for me, a thoughtful gift!
We never know why certain people or events come onto our path, why messengers arrive bearing gifts (insights or directional information), or who might help in unexpected ways.
Years ago, I consulted for a client who’d been through a miserable divorce. She left her marriage with only a pricey wedding ring. She sold the ring to fund a venture with an enterprising friend, opening a restaurant. The restaurant failed, leaving her bankrupt, and shortly thereafter, her storage space burned down. She lost everything.
Another friend mentioned that her parents had a garage apartment where she could live, if she’d be willing to look in on her folks now and then. The move positioned her in unexpected, positive ways. The elderly parents became like family, and she spent time with them, happily, more than just now and then. As a result, she was inspired to make eldercare her new vocation!
She’d always been attentive to seniors, spending time with the parents of friends—and friends of her parents—but never considered this her special gift until living in this garage apartment. At the time of our session, my client was running a new, thriving and fulfilling business, caring for seniors in their homes, and receiving frequent referrals from agencies and friends.
The Holiday Season
May life flow you gently through the changes you must navigate. May heroes and angels rush in to help. May you breathe in the moment and marvel in the unfolding, trusting the bigger picture to lead you to exactly what you need. We’re all in this together, and I’m honored and grateful to know you.
