WHEN I'M CALLED TO APPLEBEES

I eat very well, mostly healthy, organic, but sometimes I'm called to head over to Applebee's for their Won Ton chicken tacos, here in Santa Fe, NM.

The last time I felt pulled to go there, I sat at the counter (okay, the bar...) and was soon joined by a Southwestern cowboy — hat, boots 'n all — who ordered his usual tall beer. I said to the bar tendress, "Now there's a real cowboy!"

"Yeah," she replied, "he really is!" That told me that he was a regular.

I greeted him and learned he owns horses and had been on active duty in the army. Mid-conversation, I intuited that HE was quite intuitive, particularly with HIS HORSES!

I gave him my most generic introduction to my work, that's usually something like, "Um, hey...you know, uh. sometimes, I kinda...GET THINGS!" (In CA, the most often resonse, "OH SUPER! WHADAYA GET?"

Mr. Cowboy said, "Hey, yeah — me too! I guess I'm kinda sensitive that way!'

I said, "I'm sensing that you're VERY telepathic with your horses!"

"Yes!" he replied, "you know, I started observing how horses nuzzle each other's backs, looking as though they're connecting with each other that way. So, I began putting my hand on my horses' backs, rubbing them there, and then it kinda connects me to them....I think I'm catching their thoughts!"

Whoa. You can imagine what followed: my (hopefully) non-intrusive way of sharing a more metaphysical, multidimensional explanation of how I sensed Mr. Cowboy actually connects telepathically with his beloved equine herd.

He went on to share how he has journaled his experiences in combat and more for most of his adult life. He struck me as an extremely awakened, spiritual soul.

"You should share your stories, your insights, with others!" I said. "Maybe somewhere, perhaps on a TED Talk! You have a lot to share!"

FAST FORWARD TO YESTERDAY:

After Pilates, I was called again to an Applebee's Happy Hour... and my preferred Won Ton Chicken Tacos... (+ steamed broccoli and a glass of chilled Chardonnay).

There were a couple of local guys sitting there whom I'd seen and chatted with before, and across the way, I spotted an African American gal, wearing glasses with large red frames, drinking something that looked like milkshakes from my childhood.

I caught her eye, then shared those reflections.

"Oh yeah!" she replied, "only THESE 'milkshakes' are laced with Tequila!"

"Oh," I said, "yeah, I probably didn't drink YOUR kind of milkshakes, growing up!

We continued to talk and share, and eventually she came around to chat with me.

I found this lovely gal to be a very old soul, who works as a surgical and obstetric assistant.

I shared with her that years ago, I had a client, an obstetrician, who said that when he's delivering babies, he can tell the moment the spirit joins with the body.

"Suddenly, the Light turns on!" he told me.

"I see that same thing!" the gal reported.

The more we shared, the more I could see that she's an old soul who definitely trusts there's a much bigger picture in life that extends way beyond how everything seems. We chatted a bit longer, then she returned to her seat...and her 'milkshake.'

I paid my bill, walked around the bar, passed by the local dudes, and went over to my new friend and gave her a hug.

"So great to see you, dear lady — after all these hundred years!" I exclaimed.

"Hundreds of years?" one of the guys inquired, looking our way.

"Yes!" I replied, "We're certainly all in this together — beyond time."

Once I returned to my car, about to pull out, I looked over and saw one of the guys standing at the top of the off-ramp into the restaurant.

He was waving. Simply, waving and smiling.

Oh, how I love HOW WE'RE ALL IN THIS TOGETHER, BEYOND DIFFERING CULTURES, EXPERIENCES, ORIENTATIONS..beyond it all.

AND..." you never know what's for what!"
