I love gathering evidence that demonstrates the interconnectedness of all living things. These examples usually arrive unexpectedly, often surfacing in consultations, whether I’m meeting with the client in person or over the phone. Perhaps you’ve read the account of Tina the Tree Lady and The Flower Story.
Well, here comes another account, one that involves (of all things) — a pig!
Years ago, Jaene, my assistant, accompanied me on a trip to a certain Native American reservation. We’d received an invitation from a long-time client who lived there with her husband, a medicine man, and their young son. I was to present to a small group at her home on the reservation. I’ll not go into too much detail here, in order to respect the privacy of members of the tribe, who are rightly protective of their own customs and ways of doing things.
Anyway, I often find Native Americans to be very much on same page with me when I’m interpreting for the Spirit of loved ones in their consultations. They require very little orientation as to the eternal nature of Spirit, and our ability to communicate through (what I refer to as) Streaming Consciousness. Besides anticipated loved ones, those that present themselves in these sessions can include members of an etheric (non-physical) Council of Elders, as well as representatives from Great Spirit’s animal allies.
Fast forward to several years following the visit to the reservation — to just two years ago. My client from the reservation surprised me by showing up at a presentation that I was giving at bookstore in her area. She brought along a few friends and her nephew, whom I’d never met. A few days later, I did a private session for her, and one for her nephew as well.
While meeting with the nephew, well into his session, I kept getting interrupted by the image of a face appearing — in my face! It was the face of a pig, snout and all! “Excuse me,” I said to the nephew, “but...um...I’m getting a bit distracted. There’s a presence here, the Spirit of...a pig! He (or she) is informing me that he/she is serving as a sort of delegate, here to represent...other pigs?” (I really do practice non-judgment about the information I’m receiving, but sometimes, as the words come out of my mouth, my ego-self thinks they sound ridiculous. Still, I’m here in service to all, and that understanding is validated again and again. It keeps me strong, even when my impulse is to second-guess this kind of information).
I took a deep breath. “I guess they have a message for you! Does this make any sense, so far?”
“Well, yes...” my client replied. “Go on...”
“Well, it feels as though the Spirit of this pig has arrived with a request. It wants your people to change something, to do something differently. It seems to involve some sort of custom or ceremony in which the tribe has apparently deviated from what the Pig is referring to as ‘the old ways.’ It’s as if it wants to make a deal with you. Can you relate to any of this?”
“All I know is that the pigs have been tearing up our gardens!”
“Well, um, that’s interesting! I said, deciding to move on to interpret other information.
Fast forward to the present, to a phone session that I did recently for this same young man. I rarely recall information that’s been dispatched in previous consultations, but the sound of my client’s voice, or when I find myself relating information with a slightly different spin of a previous, similar topic, I get a sort of deja vu feeling. In this client’s session, I stopped, changing the subject mid-sentence to ask, “Did we previously discuss...something about a pig?”
“Yes!” my client exclaimed. “I’m not sure what it is that we in the tribe may have done differently, but the pigs stopped tearing up our gardens!”
“Really!” I replied. “Perhaps ‘they’ simply wanted to be heard!”
Ah, the interconnectedness of all living things. What a beautiful thing.
OH, BTW, here’s an interpretation for the Pig Totem:
"Pig is highly intelligent and signifies wealth and prosperity for the dreamer. Pig's greatest gift is to warn us away from selfishness and overindulgence. The lesson is to refrain from getting caught in the illusive trappings of the material plane. Pig wants everything to stay the same and gets upset by the smallest alteration in his routine. The key is to avoid all addictive behavior, for we cannot seek security and grow spiritually at the same time."
