"Women of a certain age are swimming in an ocean of disrespect!" A friend an I were discussing this observation that we heard the other day. That night, she had a dream that we'll henceforth refer to as — "The Orange Lifesaver." It will serve as an important reminder:
"I dreamed that I was drowning. I was sinking and the bottom. It was mushy, not solid at all, so I could not push up towards the surface. In fact it was rather like quicksand, pulling me and sticky me to the bottom.
First, I realized that even though I was under water. I was breathing quite normally. And as I focused on the kicks of my legs, I came to the surface. Right there, smack dab — right in front of me, within reach — was a BIG orange life saver!"
It's challenging to live our lives with a determination to let Spirit lead the way as the representative of our true eternal nature, while participating in this game-of-life amidst the influences of "consensus reality" — mass beliefs and expectations shaped by the media, advertising, fears and oodles of illusion. The message (and resulting perception) is that the appearance of an aging body = diminished value. It's up to us to be an example of what's true about who we really are, by staying present and living as authentically as we can, speaking our truth in more moments, and "being a Light in the market place!"
My friend's dream reminds me (as it does for her). "to focus on the Now...to breath...and that Spirit always provides. I will forever smile, whenever I see an orange lifesaver!"
